Frustration

Frustration is integral to my art practice. When I am getting super annoyed with my work I know I’m about to make a break through. The grumpiness and anger I feel with myself forces me to change what I’m doing and find a better way to do it.

Often it leads to me having a temper tantrum and throwing paint and marks at the canvas which lead to new ways of seeing and painting and then the frustration turns to excitement.

So now when I feel that nothing is going right and everything I do is horrible - I’m trying to embrace it as an integral part of my practice knowing that something good is around the corner as long as I continue to keep at it and work through the frustration.

It also helps to let my inner toddler out and have a good tantrum with my materials.
